Chlorinators Non-Self Cleaning
The Poolmaid salt chlorinator automatically turns coarse salt into chlorine, reducing the hassle of pool care and saving you money on chemicals. Poolmaid Chlorinators have been designed with plugs and sockets, so they are easy to install and suitable for DIY installations.
The Poolmaid Salt Chlorinator makes it easier and more economical to own a swimming pool by automatically dosing and regulating the chlorine level. In fact, under normal conditions, you will only need to add salt once a year and ordinary pool acid when required, depending
on how often the pool is backwashed.
The Poolmaid Salt Chlorinator is the answer to hassle-free pool care. As an optional extra Poolmaid Salt Chlorinators can be fitted with a temperature sensor. This sensor automatically regulates the chlorine output in relation to the water temperature. i.e. the warmer the water the more chlorine is automatically produced the colder the water the less chlorine is produced.

The cell must be installed in the return line to the pool pump.
If any additional equipment is used, e.g. pool heaters, the cell must be installed as the last unit in the return line.
The cell must be installed horizontally with the blue electrode holder cell holder facing upward.
The ninety-degree elbows must be fitted facing downward in both the inlet and outlet of the chlorinator. These elbows are included in the chlorinator kit, and importantly function as a gas trap.
Always plan where to fit the chlorinator in the return line first, and then cut the pipes as required. By using combinations of elbows, 9O° bends and pipe, assemble the whole installation. This should be donen initially without gluing, to ensure that the assembly fits together.
Use PVC pressure cement and your plan to glue the pieces together. Do this one at a time, exactly as they were fitted together. To speed up drying and to prevent the clear cell housing from turning milky, do not fit the electrode holder until the glue has dried (NB: only PVC pipe and fittings can be glued).
After the glue has dried, fit the electrode holder with O-ring seal in place and hand-tighten the ring nut.
Use mounting brackets provided to fix power supply controller in upright position.
The power supply controller and transformer should always be installed in a sheltered position ie. filter housing etc. Must be away from possible water splashing e.g. pump lid or other sources. Never lay power supply controller or the transformer flat on the ground.
It is recommended that a registered electrician CONNECTS the transformer.
Connect the 12/18 Volt cable to the 12/18 Volt transformer supplied with chlorinator.
Ensure that transformer input and output wires face downward not sideward or upward. The transformer must be connected to a continuous supply and not be switched via pump timer (mono units). Self-cleaning units can be connected by the timer.
